Today’s soundtrack:

You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

Today is SUCH a beautiful day. The weather is perfect. The sky is perfect. The breeze is perfect.

My roommate, domestic lass that she is, made us bacon for breakfast. Any day that starts with bacon is bound to be a good one.

Then I decided to head out to the Farmer’s (Farmers’?) Market, as is becomming a new Saturday tradition of mine (it’s apple season!).

I noticed this tree while I was waiting to cross the street. The iPhone picture is rather crappy, bit it’s so yellow and lovely. I honestly keep forgetting that it’s October (birthday month!). It’s shocking and exciting all at the same time. Seriously…where has time gone? Seems like only yesterday I was in college.

Shortly after having my love fest with this tree, I noticed a grandma struggling with a baby and a stroller on the stoop in front of a brownstone. The grandma kept putting the baby in the stroller, and it would start to fold in on it self. I observed this happen a few times as I walked closer, with the frazzled-ness of the grandma increasing incrementally, and when I got close enough, I asked her if she needed any help. This is how it went down (give or take):

Me: Hi there! Do you need any help!
Grandma: Oh, yes please! My daughter said this thing was easy, all I do is push down on this latch and it’s supposed to lock in place.
Me: (looks at stroller)
G: (looks at stroller)
Me: Hmm. It looks like it’s not locking into place.
G: (looks). Here, would you like to hold this baby?
Me: IS IT CHRISTMAS? YES I WILL HOLD YOUR BABY! I LOVE BABIES. I am not creepy. Seriously. It’s fine. Give me the baby.

Then Grandma goes on to tell me that it’s baby Paul’s birthday party day in the park, and she’s supposed to be bringing the baby and the dog but the stroller is malfunctioning etc etc, and then she fixes it, except not, so I get to hold the baby AGAIN. And then I gave him back and we all lived happily ever after. Except I wished I had paper or something to write down my phone number for babysitting! Oh well.

I seriously had the goofiest smile on my face for the rest of the walk to the farmers (seriously, is it farmer’s, farmers’, or farmers? This is a question, not a quiz) market.

See what random acts of kindness can get you? BABIES.

File it under “reasons brooklyn is pretty great.”

And now I’m drinking this delicious strawberry-banana-peach smoothie:
